Q: What is Islam?

A: Islam is the universal religion of all the prophets of Allah (God) culminating in Muhammad (peace be upon him).


Q: Who is Allah?

A: Allah is the personal name of God, in Arabic and Aramaic (the language of Jesus). It cannot take plural/feminine form, whereas, the word "God" is a title, not a name, and can take plural/feminine forms.

In fact, Islam is the only religion which teaches the existence of a PERFECT God. A perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes.

Sha'ban is one of the meritorious months for which we find some particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wasallam. It is reported in the authentic ahadith that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wasallam, used to fast most of the month in Sha'ban. These fasts were not obligatory on him but Sha'ban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. The path of success

We are asked to pray to be guided to the straight path. But how to know what is the right path? All the disputes of philosophies and creeds and all the clashes of ideologies are concerned with the definition of the right path. Let us analyse the concept a little closer. A path is that which leads to the destination; it is a means to the attainment of an end. Human life is realm of ends. At first sight it appears that human beings have innumerable ends and countless means for the attainment of those ends. But most of these ends are only derivatives from a few intrinsic values which are sought because of their self-evident goodness.

A brief biography of Moulana Yunus Patel rahimahullah

The passing away of Hazrat Moulana Yunus Patel rahimahullah in the precincts of the Ka’bah in Makkah Mukarramah on 12 July 2011 heralds the closing of a unique chapter in the history of Islam in South Africa. An Aalim who had a hand in most of the different works of Islam in the country at some point or the other, Moulana Yunus Patel rahimahullah is acknowledged by Muslims across the spectrum in South Africa as a great personality. This write-up merely serves to highlight a few aspects from his life and cannot do justice to the many facets of half a century of unparalleled service to Islam. There could be mistakes in the facts written here and ask that any corrections be forwarded to us. Many facts are missing and will be made public as and when they come to light.

Moulana was born in 1946 in Stanger, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. He did his primary schooling and, in 1962 as a youngster he volunteered to be in the first Tabligh Jamaat with Haji Bhai Padia rahimahullah in Grey Street Musjid, Durban. He used to go in the initial Tabligh Jamaats that used to work in South Africa.
